Slice of Life - Go. Meander. Stop.

Beginning.  Middle.  End.
Go.  Meander.  Stop.
Start.  Do.  Finish.
First.  Together.  Last.

Today was all of these phrases at once.  It was the first day in at least two weeks where life felt normal.  There wasn't a late start or cold day or even a snow day.  There were no flipped flopped schedules with fourth grade to accommodate their PARCC testing.  There wasn't a guest teacher while I proctored a PARCC test for a small group.  There were no class pictures or book fairs to attend.

Normal feels like arrival, morning meeting, math workshop, reading workshop, writing workshop, word study, recess, lunch, flex time, special, recess, project work, pack up and go home.  I turned around at one point today and noticed F our organizer arranging our schedule cards and I just had to smile.  Normal looks good and feels good.  Normal is calming, relaxing, and soothing.  Normal brings more opportunities for learning and growing together.  Normal makes us happy.

Thank you Two Writing Teachers for fostering and organizing this writing challenge.

  1. I love this slice and could feel the calm in the normal. I am glad that you and your students were able to follow your normal routine with all the opportunities that come along with it. Here's to many more before the school year is over!
