I wonder if she'd flip those words and tell me she's interested, supportive, caring, and helpful if I said you are annoying or nosey. I wonder if the roles every change...

It's about the point of view. One day she will ask the same kinds of questions of her child and then she will understand.
ReplyDeleteAnd the words will change--my mom is 86 now and I ask her things all the time that she thinks are a tad intrusive. Life goes around.
ReplyDeleteEvery moment of life is about perspective - I think it was Laura Ingalls Wilder who said "Things and persons appear to us according to the light we throw on them from our own minds." I know this light can shift... how much better I understand my father now. Strength and courage to you. :)

ReplyDeleteThe good news is that she feels comfortable and safe :) We only say those things to people we know will always be there for us.
ReplyDeleteGoing about our days - all the nosey, annoying, caring, helpful things will become fond memories. I wish my mom was here with me to be a little annoying (caring) about me!
